The collaboration between Albukhary International University (AIU), Prudence Foundation, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and Cartoon Network marked a remarkable initiative under the SAFE STEPS Kids Carnival. This engaging series that was held on October 6, 2024, aimed to educate children on crucial topics through the lens of beloved popular cartoon characters:
- Disasters: The Powerpuff Girls guided kids on preparing for disasters or emergencies with the SAFE STEPS framework.
- First Aid:Â We Bare Bears taught on the essential first aid treatments in a fun and accessible manner.
- Road Safety:Â Gumball provided vital road safety tips for safe navigation.
- Health:Â Cartoon Network characters shared engaging health tips, encouraging kids to sing along and stay healthy.
- Climate Change:Â Children learned SAFE STEPS to contribute to a healthier planet, promoting environmental awareness.
In the lead-up to the event, 22 AIU students received training from the Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on October 5. During the event, these students facilitated sessions and engaged with primary school students, explaining key concepts related to road safety, health, first aid, disaster preparedness, and climate change through interactive games and activities.
The SAFE STEPS Kids Carnival aligned with AIU’s 8 Hours Rule, which emphasizes character development and community engagement. By empowering youth with knowledge and skills, the event successfully fostered a culture of awareness and safety within the community.
